Description

You can work out a knot in your back with a foam roller or massage gun, but tight spots in the pelvic floor are hard to reach—especially when you’re on your own at home.

That’s why a physical therapist created the Intimate Rose pelvic wand, a myofascial release device that helps relieve symptoms of pelvic floor muscle tightness like pain with penetration and bladder leaks.

An FDA-registered medical device, the wand’s patented design allows it to be used from either end, either vaginally or rectally, to release trigger points and improve flexibility of pelvic floor muscles. The device can be used in both women and men.

The Intimate Rose pelvic wand is recommended for conditions including:

• Vaginismus and dyspareunia: Involuntary contractions of the muscles surrounding the vagina, resulting in painful sex, medical exams or tampon insertion

• Vestibulodynia: Pain outside and at the entry of the vaginal canal

• Pelvic floor tension myalgia: Pain or tightness due to tight or shortened pelvic floor muscles

• Levator ani syndrome: Pain or tightness in the deepest layer of the pelvic floor

• Endometriosis: A painful condition in which the endometrium, tissue that lines the inside of the uterus, grows outside the uterus

The device is the only pelvic wand that is fully-covered in smooth, medical-grade silicone for maximum comfort. For additional therapeutic attributes, see the Intimate Rose Vibrating Wand and Intimate Rose Temperature Wand.

Intimate Rose recommends using the wand for one to two minutes per trigger point, once or twice per day until symptoms improve.

How to Use

Wash the wand with warm soap and water before every use. Start by lying on your back with knees bent and feet planted or lying on your side with knees bent and a pillow between them.

Choose the curved end with pointed tip for trigger points closer to the entrance of the vagina or rectum or the longer, rounded end for deeper muscles.

Apply a water-based lubricant to the first one to two inches of the wand, as well as the vaginal opening. Do not use a silicone-based lubricant, which can damage the device.

Before inserting the wand, practice deep breathing to relax your pelvic floor muscles: Let your belly expand as you inhale and fall as you exhale.

Carefully insert the wand upon exhaling, sweeping it until you find a tender spot. Gently press the wand onto the trigger point with the same firmness you would use to check a tomato for ripeness (so don't press hard enough to pierce a tomato's skin).

Maintain gentle pressure on the trigger point, moving your knees left and right until you find a position that relieves the pain. Breathe deeply, holding the wand on the trigger point for one to two minutes.

Recommended for pain

My physical therapist recommended this because I am having a lot of pain with sex and other situations. I have only used it twice so far but am getting used to using it on myself. I am hopeful that I will be able to do more massage on my own and not have to pay so much for PT.
