Description

When the vagina feels painfully tight, a dilator can help relax your muscles—opening the way to less painful sex, tampon insertion and medical exams.

Inserted like a tampon, a dilator applies gentle pressure to the vaginal canal to improve its flexibility, length and depth. In stretching the pelvic floor, dilators can also help strengthen it, reducing sensitivity over time.

This set of Intimate Rose's smallest dilators provides a starting point for women experiencing vaginal pain and tightness related to vaginismus, menopause and hormonal changes, childbirth injuries, radiation and other causes.

Included are four dilators of progressive sizes, ranging from 2.8 to 4.5 inches long and .45 to .95 inches wide. (See the Intimate Rose medium and large sets for different lengths and circumferences).

Intimate Rose's industry-leading dilators are easy to use at home, making their use more convenient and private than similar treatment in a physical therapist's office.

Smooth, medical-grade silicone with a proprietary finishing process makes Intimate Rose dilators more comfortable than competing products made of a hard plastic or sticky silicone.

Silicone is firm yet flexible, contouring to your vaginal canal for a softer and more natural feel. Plus, it offers added durability and temperature control, allowing you to warm or cool the dilator before use for added comfort.

Registered by the FDA, Intimate Rose dilators were designed by a pelvic floor physical therapist and are used in Academy of Pelvic Health training courses.

Intimate Rose dilators are recommended by health care professionals for these conditions:

• Vaginismus, painful sex and vaginal pain: Involuntary contractions of the muscles surrounding the vagina, resulting in painful sex, medical exams or tampon insertion

• Vestibulodynia: Pain outside and at the entry of the vaginal canal

• Vaginal stenosis: Closure of the vaginal canal opening due to scarring, hormonal changes or radiation treatment

• Vulvodynia: Chronic pain or discomfort around the vulva (opening of the vagina) for which there is no identifiable cause and which lasts at least three months

• Menopause: Hormonal changes can result in pain near the opening of the vagina and inside the vaginal canal, making penetration painful

• Gender affirmation: Medical procedures often involving neo-vaginal reconstruction

Start with the smallest dilator in the set and progress to larger dilators as you can more easily initiate and maintain penetration. Intimate Rose recommends using the dilator for 20 to 30 minutes once or twice daily until symptoms improve.

How to Use

Find a comfortable position laying on your back, with your knees bent. You can also lay on your side with a pillow between your knees.

Apply a generous amount of water-based lubricant. Note that oil-based and silicone-based lubricants can damage the product.

Take deep breaths and stay relaxed as you slowly and gently insert the dilator into your vagina, being careful not to clench your muscles or force penetration.

Intimate Rose recommends using the dilator for 15 to 20 minutes, once or twice daily, until you have reached your goal. Consider using a dilator three times a week to maintain results.

Simply leave the dilator inserted throughout your session or practice gentle movements, like pulling the dilator in and out or rotating it in each direction. Be sure to stay focused on your session to help your mind adjust to penetration.

Start with a small dilator and progress to the next size once you can insert it without pain and maintain comfortable penetration for a longer period of time.

Wash the dilator with warm water and soap and dry it well before every use.
